Bandits Attack Plateau School, Killing Teachers and Injured 2 Others

Two teachers have been confirmed dead, and a Vice Principal and one other staff member have been seriously injured at the BECO Comprehensive School in Kwi, Riyom, Plateau State. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when herdsmen forced their way into the school premises for cow grazing.

The security men on duty stopped the herdsmen, and when the teachers tried to plead with them to vacate the premises, they were shot and killed. The State Police spokesman, Alfred Alabo, has not received any information from the Divisional Police Officer in Riyom. The school principal, Mr. Dantoro Gyang, confirmed the incident. The school staff were in routine meetings when the herdsmen entered the premises for grazing.

Two of the herdsmen suddenly brought out guns, pulled the triggers, and instantly killed two of the teachers. The Vice Principal and one other person were shot in the abdomen. The President of the Berom Youth Moulders, Solomon Dalyop, lamented the incident and stressed that open grazing will continue to terrorize the people of the State and the Middle Belt.
